LAGOS — Former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida (retd.); Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu; former Minister of External Affairs, General Ike Nwachukwu (retd.); former Ogun State Governor, Chief Segun Osoba; and Publisher of THISDAY/Arise Media, Prince Nduka Obaigbena, are among eminent Nigerians expected at the 40th anniversary book launch and reunion of Vanguard Newspapers in Lagos on Wednesday.
The high-profile event, scheduled to hold at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, is expected to bring together leading figures from the political, business, diplomatic, security and media sectors, among others.
Osoba is expected to chair the occasion, while Babangida will serve as the Special Guest of Honour. Disu is also billed to deliver the keynote address.
A major highlight of the celebration will be the unveiling of a commemorative publication chronicling Vanguard’s four-decade journey and its contributions to Nigerian journalism and national development.
Titled The Vanguard Chronology: 40 Years of Nigeria’s Leading Tabloid, the book documents significant events, personalities and defining moments in Nigeria’s history as captured through the newspaper’s coverage over the past four decades.
The anniversary is expected to provide an opportunity for past and present members of the Vanguard family, as well as stakeholders across various sectors, to reflect on the newspaper’s history, impact and role in shaping public discourse in Nigeria.
