In a heartfelt celebration that blended personal festivity with community outreach, the birthday anniversary of Mrs Timiebi Guwor, wife of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Ass
embly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, became a platform for uplifting small‑scale entrepreneurs in Warri South‑West constituency and environ.
The event was held on Thursday at Ogbe‑Ijoh, the headquarters of Warri South‑West Local Government Area, under the auspices of the Guwor Emomotimi Dennis Foundation in partnership with the “You Matter Charity Foundation,” a pet project of the State Governor’s wife, Mrs Tobore Oborevwori.
Tagged “Timiebi Guwor Market Women Support Scheme 2025,” the ceremony drew a cross‑section of state dignitaries, political and community leaders and market association representatives, underscoring the growing emphasis on grassroots empowerment in Delta’s political landscape.
The birthday festivities reached their climax with the empowerment of 150 women‑owned small‑scale businesses.
Each beneficiary received ₦400,000, bringing the total amount disbursed to ₦60 million.
In addition, emissaries of the celebrant visited the bustling Main Market and Ogbe‑Ijoh Market, where 20 randomly selected petty traders of locally sourced produce received cash gifts ranging from ₦20,000 to ₦100,000.
Mrs Guwor, flanked by her husband, Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, and a dedicated team, spent much of the day engaging with the beneficiaries.
Many were moved to tears, describing the couple as “blessings to humanity” saying that the support would help stabilize their businesses.
In a brief remark, Mrs Guwor said: “I find this the most valuable way to celebrate my birthday. It is about sharing joy and creating opportunities. The Timiebi Guwor Market Women Support Scheme reflects our commitment to grow the local economy and support government reforms aimed at improving living standards.
“When we support vendors of locally sourced products and other small‑scale businesses that keep our markets alive, we are investing in the economic vitality of our locality and, by extension, the entire state”, Mrs Guwor said.
Speaker Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, praised his wife’s uprightness, care for others and service to God, even as he congratulated the beneficiaries and encouraged them to make good use of the cash empowerment to boost their earnings.
Earlier in a Facebook post he wrote, “Brilliant, bold and beautiful. Happy birthday, the love of my life. May this new year open doors of abundant joy, divine favour and remarkable breakthroughs. You are cherished, honoured and endlessly loved.

Nwaeke, in a statement, said dignitaries at the event had lauded Mrs Guwor’s philanthropic spirit and called for more public‑private partnerships to bolster micro‑enterprises across the state.
Nwaeke added that the Guwor family believes that sustainable development begins at the grassroots.
“By empowering these market women, we are planting seeds that will yield long‑term dividends for the constituency and the state at large”, he said.
The celebration was concluded with a modest cake‑cutting ceremony, after which the Speaker, Mrs Guwor and selected guests handed out cash grants to the beneficiaries.
