Residents of Charismatic Church Road, off Ekenhuan Road in Benin City, erupted in celebration as Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, visited the area to inspect the ongoing reconstruction of the road.
The 1.4-kilometre project, being executed by Place of Peace Investment Limited, has sparked renewed optimism among residents and business owners who have endured years of hardship due to the road’s previously dilapidated state.
During the inspection, residents gathered in large numbers, cheering the governor and expressing appreciation for what they described as a long-overdue intervention.
One of the residents, Blessing Patrick, said the road had been abandoned for years, making movement extremely difficult. She expressed gratitude to the governor, noting that the development had brought relief to the community.
Another resident, Osarunwense Igbinovia, who trades at a nearby junction, recounted the challenges previously associated with the road, including erosion and insecurity. She noted that the situation had improved significantly with the ongoing construction, bringing hope for safer and better business conditions.
The reconstruction of Charismatic Church Road is expected to enhance accessibility, improve safety, and stimulate economic activities in the area, providing much-needed relief to residents who had long awaited government intervention.
