A member of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Divine Favour Chibueze, has celebrated the church’s 53rd anniversary, describing its journey from a small Bible study group at the University of Lagos to a global Christian ministry with a presence in more than 120 countries.
In a tribute marking the anniversary, Chibueze reflected on the church’s beginnings on August 3, 1973, when it started as a Bible study fellowship of 15 people in a flat at the University of Lagos.
According to the tribute, the church has, over the past 53 years, remained committed to preaching what it described as the uncompromised Word of God, sustaining a culture of fervent prayer, evangelising across nations, and promoting holiness based on biblical teachings.
“From August 3, 1973 till today, August 3, 2026, we have seen God’s hand—in trials and in triumphs, in little and in much,” Chibueze stated.
The tribute also commended the leadership of the General Superintendent, Pastor Dr. William Folorunso Kumuyi, attributing the church’s growth and global impact to God’s grace and faithfulness.
Chibueze expressed gratitude for what was described as 53 years of grace, growth, worldwide impact and countless testimonies, while expressing optimism for the future of the ministry.
“Happy 53rd Anniversary to Deeper Life Bible Church… To God be all the praise for 53 years of grace, growth, global impact, and countless testimonies. Here’s to the next chapter God is writing,” the tribute read.
