ASABA — Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated the people of the state as Delta marks its 35th anniversary, declaring that the state has entered a new era of sustainable development, economic growth and prosperity.
Oborevwori, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in Asaba, described the anniversary as a significant milestone in the history of the state, saying the past 35 years had been characterised by resilience, unity and the collective determination of Deltans to build a better society.
The governor commended past governors and leaders, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil servants, private sector operators and citizens for their contributions to the development of Delta since its creation on August 27, 1991.
He said his administration would continue to build on the achievements of previous governments through people-oriented policies, infrastructural development, economic expansion and inclusive governance.
According to him, the ongoing transformation across the state reflects his administration’s determination to deliver the dividends of democracy while creating greater opportunities for citizens.
Oborevwori urged Deltans to remain united and support the government’s development agenda, assuring them that the best years of the state were still ahead.
“Today, as we celebrate 35 years of our dear state, we are reminded of the sacrifices, dedication and vision of those who have contributed to making Delta what it is today.
“The shining era of Delta State is here, and together we will build a future of greater possibilities,” the governor said.
The governor wished Deltans at home and abroad a happy 35th anniversary, while urging them to renew their commitment to peace, unity and collective responsibility in advancing the development of the state.
