The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ede Dafinone, has been honoured with the distinguished traditional title “Garkuwa Gamji” by Alhaji Farouq Umar in recognition of his longstanding support and commitment to the Gamji Emirate.
The title was conferred during a ceremony organised by the Emirate, where community leaders and dignitaries gathered to celebrate the senator’s contributions to strengthening unity and encouraging collaboration across Nigeria’s regional divides.
Speaking after receiving the honour, Senator Dafinone expressed appreciation to the Emirate, describing the recognition as both humbling and deeply meaningful. According to him, the honour reflects the importance of unity, cooperation, and shared purpose in the country’s development.
“I was deeply honoured this afternoon to be conferred with the prestigious traditional title of Garkuwa Gamji,” the lawmaker said, noting that his relationship with the Emirate has developed over many years of active engagement and participation in its activities.
The senator also reflected on his family’s longstanding connection with the institution, recalling that he often represented his late father at several Gamji Emirate functions. He noted that his father maintained a strong and respected relationship with the Emirate, which helped promote cordial ties between Northern Nigeria and the South-South region.
According to Dafinone, his late father who also served as a senator was committed to fostering unity across regions while supporting the initiatives and vision of the Gamji institution.
Reaffirming his commitment to those ideals, the Delta Central lawmaker said he remains dedicated to promoting national unity, cooperation, and mutual respect through both his public service and personal engagements.
In a related development, the senator has also been appointed as a member of the Advisory Board of the Arewa Gamji Emirate Royal Council, a role that further entrusts him with supporting the institution’s programmes and advancing its vision of national integration.
