The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has alleged that a political figure in Delta State seeking a senatorial position may be involved in what he described as “double-faced politics.”
Speaking during a recent engagement, Wike claimed that the unnamed individual had allegedly demonstrated inconsistency in keeping to commitments, raising concerns about trust and credibility in public office.
“I heard that in Delta State, someone who allegedly cannot keep to his word also wants to become a senator, so that he can come to Abuja and start playing double-faced politics,” Wike said.
The former Rivers State governor further suggested that leadership at the federal level should be cautious in its political engagements, emphasizing the importance of dealing with individuals perceived to be consistent and straightforward.
While referencing Delta North Senator, Ned Nwoko, Wike noted that although every politician may have shortcomings, working with individuals considered dependable remains crucial for governance.
He also warned that Abuja should not serve as a refuge for individuals seeking to evade accountability, stressing the need for integrity in public service.
Wike’s remarks add to ongoing political conversations in Delta State ahead of future electoral contests, although the identity of the individual referenced was not disclosed.
