Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chief Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku, the Aigbodekhe-Ini of Sobe Kingdom, has pledged his support for the upcoming Owan Marathon event set to hold on the 3rd of January 2026.
Rt. Hon. Chief Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku made this known when the Organizers of the Owan Marathon visited him in his office as part of their advocacy visit .
The Speaker thanked the group for the laudable initiative which will help reduce vices in youths and help them channel their energy towards sports development.
Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku said he would always be willing to join efforts with any initiative aimed at developing and creating a guaranteed future for the youths in society.
He disclosed his recent registration of Students for the NECO Examinations by Providing free NECO Forms to indigent and resident students as well as providing NIN officials to register them .
Mr. Speaker Harped on the need for all to be involved in the activities of youths in society to help channel their energy away from social vices inimical to their growth and development.
He disclosed plans to ensure the Owan Marathon initiative is turned into a statewide event where athletes who will represent the state in competitions can be picked.
Earlier, the Convener and President Global Bridge Initiative, Dr. Chris Ojo an Indigene of Owan said the 5th Owan Marathon is a yearly event, aimed at developing youths towards sports development and growth.
Dr. Ojo also intimated the Speaker of the pet project Village Register, a project which pilot is for Owan to register all in the area to have adequate number of residents in a particular area.
The convener of Owan Marathon thereafter presented Mr Speaker’s kit for the Marathon event.
