The Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, has ordered a full-scale investigation into disturbing viral videos showing two young men allegedly brutalized in separate incidents.
One of the videos shows a young man on a hospital bed with his hand reportedly severed from the wrist after an attack, while another clip depicts a different young man sitting on the ground with a severed hand placed on his head.
In a statement issued by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, the Command described the scenes as “deeply troubling” and confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the incidents and ensure justice is served.
The police further appealed to the victims seen in the videos—or anyone with useful information about their identities or whereabouts—to contact the Office of the Police Public Relations Officer at the Edo State Police Command Headquarters in Benin City, or report to the nearest police station.
The Command also urged members of the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could jeopardize ongoing investigations.
