The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Prof. Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) winner of the November 8 governorship election in Anambra State.
Announcing the results on Sunday at the INEC headquarters in Awka, the Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edoba Omoregie, said Soludo polled 422,664 votes to secure a decisive victory.
His closest rival, Chief Nichols Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), garnered 99,445 votes, while Mr. Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came third with 37,753 votes.
The Labour Party candidate, George Moghalu, supported by former governor Peter Obi, finished fourth with 10,576 votes, followed by John Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who scored 8,208 votes.
With this result, Soludo secures a second term in office, extending APGA’s long-standing dominance in Anambra politics.
