Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), has appealed to the House of Representatives to grant the necessary administrative clearance that would allow him to appear before its investigative panel examining allegations surrounding the council.
Adeyemi, who is currently in custody, made the request through a statement issued on Sunday by his legal team. He argued that excluding his testimony from the ongoing investigation would undermine the credibility and fairness of the panel’s findings.
According to the statement, the PFIPC boss maintained that he is being unfairly portrayed as the sole person responsible for the issues under investigation, insisting that he is being made a “scapegoat” in the unfolding controversy.
He further stressed that any report or recommendations produced by the House committee without giving him the opportunity to present his side of the story would be fundamentally flawed and inconsistent with the principles of fair hearing.
Adeyemi’s legal team urged the House of Representatives to facilitate his appearance before the panel, saying his testimony is essential to ensuring a balanced, transparent, and credible investigation into the affairs of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council.
