The Global Crusade with Kumuyi is set to hold in Ogun West from August 26 to 30, with organisers unveiling free medical, surgical and humanitarian outreaches as part of activities planned to extend the impact of the five-day evangelistic programme.
The crusade, themed “Total Transformation Through Christ,” will take place daily from 5pm at the Anglican Church Grammar School, Abebi, Ota.
The programme is being jointly organised by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Ogun West chapter; the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Ogun West chapter; and the Deeper Christian Life Ministry.
Speaking at a press conference to announce the programme, the Ogun West State Overseer, Pastor Joseph Fasanmi, said the crusade would combine evangelism with practical interventions aimed at meeting the needs of residents across the region.
Fasanmi said the theme was chosen to emphasise the need for transformation in individuals, families and communities through the Christian faith.
“Our nation, like many nations of the world, is passing through challenging times. Families desire stability. Young people seek purpose. Communities yearn for peace. Businesses look for renewed confidence,” he said.
“The greatest transformation any society can experience is the transformation of its people,” he added.
The organisers said the programme would feature the ministry of Pastor William Kumuyi and attract residents from Ado-Odo/Ota, Yewa South, Yewa North, Ipokia and Imeko-Afon.
They stressed that participation would be open to people regardless of denomination, social status or religious background.
Free Medical, Surgical Outreach
Ahead of the main crusade, the organisers have scheduled a series of free health interventions targeting mothers, children and residents requiring medical and surgical care.
A maternal and child health outreach will hold on August 23 at Landmark Executive Multipurpose Hall, Ota.
This will be followed by medical outreaches on August 24 at St Michael Junior School, Ota, and August 25 at the Deeper Life Regional Headquarters, Ntabo, Ijoko, Ota.
According to the organisers, the medical outreaches will provide free consultations, diagnosis, treatment and medication.
Free surgical outreaches will also take place on August 24 and 25 at the State Hospital, Ota, and General Hospital, Idiroko, in Ipokia Local Government Area.
The organisers said the surgical programme would cover general and gynaecological procedures, while ophthalmic surgeries would also be available at Idiroko.
Prospective beneficiaries are expected to undergo screening from August 12 to 14, between 10am and 2pm, at Anglican Church Grammar School, Ota, and Gateway African Church, Ikolaje, Idiroko, near the Oniko Palace.
Prison, Youth Programmes
The programme will also feature prison outreaches on August 24 and 25, as well as an All Believers’ Conference scheduled for August 27 and 28 at Christian Pentecostal Mission, Ota.
The conference, themed “Perfect Deliverance in a Shifting World,” will commence at 7:30am daily.
A youth-focused Impact Academy, themed “Transformed to Break Limits,” will also hold at the crusade venue, with the organisers describing it as an opportunity to engage young people on purpose, values and personal development.
The organisers appealed to the media to help publicise the activities, particularly the free medical and surgical programmes, to ensure that residents who need the services can benefit.
They also assured the public that arrangements were being made with relevant government agencies and stakeholders to ensure a peaceful and orderly programme.
Fasanmi expressed optimism that the crusade would have a lasting impact on Ogun West.
“The Global Crusade with Kumuyi is not simply coming to Ogun West; it is coming for Ogun West,” he said.
