Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has approved a monthly transport support allowance of ₦10,000 for civil servants in the state as part of efforts to ease economic pressure on workers.

Makinde made the announcement on Monday during the supervision of the YEAP-SAFER support disbursement and stakeholder engagement programme held at the Fashola Agribusiness Hub.

He stated that the allowance, which will take effect from March, is scheduled to run for an initial period of three months. Details regarding the disbursement process will be communicated through appropriate government channels.

The governor explained that the initiative is a strategic response to current economic challenges, particularly the rising cost of transportation linked to the ongoing energy crisis.

According to him, the increasing transport costs have placed a strain on workers’ welfare and productivity. He added that the support scheme is designed to reduce the financial burden on civil servants while ensuring continued efficiency across ministries, departments, and agencies.
