BENIN CITY — The Monday Okpebholo Solidarity Movement (MOSOM) has commended Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for what it described as his swift intervention in the rescue of a woman abducted at the Vegetable Market in Benin City and the subsequent arrest of suspects linked to the crime.
In a statement signed by its Secretary and Co-Convener, Alhaji Prince MKO Chalaman Momoh, the group praised the governor’s prompt response following the kidnapping incident, which reportedly occurred in the presence of the victim’s husband and children.
MOSOM said Governor Okpebholo’s immediate directive to security agencies led to rapid action that resulted in the rescue operation and the apprehension of individuals connected to the abduction.
According to the group, the governor’s intervention demonstrates his commitment to protecting the lives and property of Edo residents and reinforces his administration’s determination to rid the state of criminal elements.
“The swift response sends a clear message that Edo State will not serve as a safe haven for kidnappers, cultists and other criminal elements,” the statement said.
The movement further described the governor’s actions as evidence of responsive and people-oriented leadership, noting that residents require reassurance that government remains committed to addressing security challenges across the state.
MOSOM stated that criminality must continue to be confronted with urgency and within the framework of the law, while emphasizing that all parts of Edo State deserve equal protection and proactive security measures.
The group also called on its members across Edo South, Edo Central and Edo North Senatorial Districts to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information capable of preventing crime and aiding investigations.
It urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities and movements to the appropriate authorities as part of efforts to strengthen community-based security.
Reaffirming its support for the Okpebholo administration, MOSOM pledged to continue backing policies and initiatives aimed at promoting peace, security, development and good governance in Edo State.
The group expressed confidence that sustained collaboration among government, security agencies, community leaders and residents would further enhance safety and foster development across the state.
