Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu is “in great shape” after briefly stumbling during a reception ceremony in Turkey, one of his aides has said.
The 73-year-old president was being formally welcomed by Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the capital, Ankara, when the incident occurred.
Official video footage shared on President Erdogan’s X account shows President Tinubu walking past a guard of honour and dignitaries before veering slightly to his right and falling. The footage briefly captures officials moving in to assist him before cutting to an aerial shot of the venue.
Around 45 seconds later, President Tinubu is seen standing alongside his Turkish counterpart.
An aide, Sunday Dare, said the president was not injured and went on to participate in a scheduled bilateral meeting.
