OGHARA, Delta State — The Convener of the Oghara Study Group (OSG), Rev. David Ugolor, has raised fresh concerns over the worsening security situation in Oghara Kingdom, calling for urgent government intervention and greater accountability in the management of security funds.

Speaking during a live interview on the TVC Breakfast Show, Rev. Ugolor described the persistent insecurity in the kingdom as a long-standing challenge that has continued to threaten lives and livelihoods despite official assurances.

He cited the recent kidnapping of a couple as one of the latest incidents highlighting the deteriorating security situation. According to him, the husband was killed by the kidnappers, while his wife was released only after a ransom was reportedly paid. He argued that the incident was not an isolated case, contrary to suggestions by the Nigeria Police, but rather part of a recurring pattern of violent crimes affecting the area.

Rev. Ugolor attributed the continued insecurity to what he described as a lack of sufficient political will at both the state and local government levels. He urged the Delta State Government to take more decisive measures to address the crisis and called for greater transparency and accountability in the use of security votes, including the reported ₦10 billion security contribution associated with Tompolo.

The OSG convener also advocated for stronger collaboration among security agencies and relevant stakeholders in combating organized crime across Delta State. He said a coordinated approach involving the Delta State Government, local government authorities, the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU), the Nigeria Police Force, the Headquarters Nigerian Army, traditional rulers, community youth groups, and local vigilante outfits would significantly strengthen efforts to improve security.

He stressed that tackling insecurity requires a unified strategy that combines intelligence sharing, effective law enforcement, and active community participation to restore peace and public confidence across Oghara Kingdom and its surrounding communities.
