No fewer than 2,000 commercial motorcycle operators drawn from the 18 local government areas of Ondo State on Tuesday declared their support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The operators, under the umbrella of the Amalgamated Commercial Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria, also pledged their commitment to mobilising support for the President to secure a landslide victory in the state.
The endorsement event was held at the office of the Asiwaju Mandate Group in Akure.
Speaking at the gathering, the Ondo State Chairman of ACOMORAN, Akinlolu Olumonrin, said the decision to support Tinubu followed what he described as a careful evaluation of the President’s performance across the country.
According to Olumonrin, members of the association are convinced that Tinubu remains best positioned to sustain ongoing development programmes and policy initiatives nationwide.
“We have reviewed his work across Nigeria and concluded that he is the only one capable of continuing these programmes to ensure they are not disrupted,” he said.
Olumonrin further explained that the association had previously made several efforts to gain visibility and recognition in Ondo State, including writing letters and instituting legal action, but without success. He noted that aligning with the President could help address their concerns.
“We made several attempts to strengthen ACOMORAN in Ondo State, including writing letters and going to court, but we did not succeed. We believe that engaging through the President may yield results, which is why we have chosen to support him again,” he added.
The ACOMORAN chairman also urged members of the association to remain law-abiding and maintain discipline in their operations to build public trust and protect their image.
However, he called on the Federal Government to urgently address the rising cost of fuel and the broader economic challenges facing Nigerians, noting that commercial transport operators are among the hardest hit.
