The Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, His Majesty Major General Felix Mujakperuo (Rtd), has marked a historic milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony of a new Palace Annex in Sapele Township, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.

Speaking at the event, the monarch described the moment as deeply fulfilling, noting that the palace annex will serve as a center for the promotion and preservation of Okpe cultural heritage for generations to come.

“It gives me great pleasure to witness this historical milestone as I performed the groundbreaking of my new Palace Annex in Sapele Township,” the Orodje said. “I am overwhelmed with the love and massive turnout of my sons and daughters.”

The ceremony drew a large crowd of indigenes, traditional leaders, and well-wishers, reflecting strong communal support for the project. In the aftermath of the event, congratulatory messages continued to pour in from sons and daughters of Okpe Kingdom across different communities.

One supporter hailed the monarch’s leadership, saying:

“Umogu, may you live long and eat long. Anybody that disobeys our King, we will also disobey their King. Okpe sons and daughters will no longer accept any disrespect to our tradition.”

Another loyalist declared unwavering allegiance to the throne:

“This is my Orodje. I have no other Orodje than this Orodje — the King of a Tribe, the only King that controls two Local Government Areas.”

Others praised the cultural significance of the project, describing the monarch as:

“The Umogu of the universe,”

and adding,

“Long live the King of Okpe Kingdom.”

A particularly detailed congratulatory message read:

“Congratulations to my Lord the King and Okpe Kingdom. May this new sub-palace located in the heart of Sapele Annex be a symbol of your kingdom’s rich heritage and a hub for cultural growth and development for generations to come. Long live the King! Long live Okpe Kingdom! Long live Delta State.”

Another well-wisher applauded the monarch’s commitment to development:

“Congratulations to His Majesty. Your dedication and perseverance to develop Okpe Kingdom have truly paid off in this incredible milestone.”

The project has also sparked calls for the establishment of additional palace annexes across other parts of the kingdom. One community member urged:

“After this, the next place is Aghalokpe. All boundary communities need the active presence of the Okpe Palace.”

The Sapele Palace Annex is widely viewed as a significant step toward strengthening traditional governance, cultural unity, and royal presence across Okpe Kingdom.
