The Delta State Police Command has arrested a community leader and five other suspects over their alleged involvement in sexual assaults that reportedly took place during a local event in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area.
The arrests come after disturbing videos surfaced online, allegedly showing the molestation and sexual assault of young women at Oramudu Quarters during the gathering.
In a statement released on March 20, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, expressed deep concern over the incident and strongly condemned the acts. He described them as criminal, inhumane, and a serious violation of the victims’ fundamental rights and dignity.
According to the police, the chief organiser of the event, Chief Omorede Sunday, was arrested alongside four other suspects. Authorities also confirmed that the head of the Oramudu community has been taken into custody in connection with the case.
The Commissioner has directed that the matter be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation. He also ordered the deployment of tactical and investigative teams to track down and arrest all individuals linked to the incident.
“The Command unequivocally condemns such acts in their entirety. Acts of sexual violence are criminal and unacceptable under any guise,” the statement read.
Police authorities have urged victims and witnesses to come forward with any relevant information that could assist the investigation, assuring that all disclosures will be treated with strict confidentiality and professionalism.
CP Adesola further called on residents to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives, protecting citizens’ rights, and ensuring justice is served.
