Veteran actor, producer, media personality, and lawyer Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) has endorsed Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, for the presidency of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), describing her as a leader of integrity, consistency, and proven character.
In a statement expressing his support for Badejo-Okusanya’s candidacy, RMD said his endorsement was based on years of knowing and observing her personal and professional journey, noting that she has remained steadfast in her values regardless of circumstance.
According to him, while titles may create opportunities, it is character that sustains leadership.
“Over the years, life has taught me that titles may open doors, but it is character that keeps them open,” he said.
RMD stated that Badejo-Okusanya has consistently demonstrated humility, diligence, and a commitment to service, adding that she leads with quiet confidence rather than seeking public attention.
“I’ve watched her grow, work, serve, and lead with quiet confidence. She doesn’t make noise for the sake of attention. She lets her work speak. She prepares. She listens. She cares. And when she commits to something, she gives it everything she has,” he said.
Speaking on the qualities required to lead the NBA, RMD argued that effective leadership is rooted in integrity, humility, and courage rather than having all the answers.
“Leadership, in my experience, isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about having the integrity to do the right thing, the humility to listen, and the courage to make difficult decisions when they matter most. Those are the qualities I have consistently seen in Oyinkansola,” he added.
He further described the Nigerian Bar Association as being at a defining moment in its history, stressing that the legal profession requires a leader who understands its past, appreciates its present realities, and possesses the vision to shape its future.
According to RMD, the association deserves someone who will lead with dignity, fairness, and an unwavering commitment to service while preparing the Bar for future challenges.
The veteran actor said his endorsement was not merely an expression of friendship but a reflection of his confidence in Badejo-Okusanya’s readiness to assume the office of NBA President.
“For me, this isn’t simply about supporting a friend. It’s about standing behind someone I sincerely believe is prepared for the responsibility ahead,” he stated.
RMD therefore urged members of the Nigerian Bar Association to look beyond campaign rhetoric and assess the candidates based on their track records, values, and consistency.
“Look beyond the campaign season. Look at the person. Look at the journey. Look at the values. Look at the consistency. I believe you’ll arrive at the same conclusion I have. Oyinkansola is ready,” he said.
He concluded by wishing Badejo-Okusanya God’s grace, wisdom, and success in her bid to lead Nigeria’s foremost legal professional body.
