Senator Ned Nwoko (APC–Delta North) has announced that he will pursue lawful measures to address what he describes as increasing instances of online harassment and alleged criminal defamation targeted at him.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Communication Team from his office in Abuja.
According to the statement, the senator’s attention has been drawn to a renewed pattern of online attacks, including cyberstalking, coordinated videos, and publications which his team says are designed to create misleading narratives and influence public perception.
The statement noted that Senator Nwoko remains fully focused on his legislative duties, developmental initiatives, and business engagements, and has no interest in being distracted by what it termed “fabricated online drama.”
It further said that when serious allegations are made, they should be addressed through proper legal channels rather than through misinformation or emotionally charged narratives.
The communication team cautioned against the rising trend of supporting harmful online conduct or manipulating public sympathy, stating that such practices could eventually affect anyone.
In response to the situation, Senator Nwoko has reportedly instructed his legal team to petition the Inspector General of Police, the Director General of the DSS, and the Commissioner of Police (Cybercrime Unit). The aim is to facilitate a thorough investigation and possible prosecution of those responsible for the alleged cyber harassment.
According to the statement, digital evidence relating to the online activities will be traced to support lawful action.
The senator’s office also urged the governments of the United States and the United Kingdom to be mindful of attempts by certain individuals to fabricate domestic controversies for personal gain, including in asylum applications. It encouraged authorities to rely on verified information rather than sensational narratives.
The statement called on Nigerians to disregard misleading content circulating online and allow due legal processes to run their course. It emphasized that Senator Nwoko remains committed to his responsibilities and continues to uphold the principles of dignity and due process.
