The South-South zonal leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has distanced itself from claims that it endorsed a 2027 presidential bid by former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
The clarification follows remarks by John Odigie-Oyegun, a former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and now a chieftain of the ADC, who reportedly stated that the South-South bloc had unanimously agreed to support Amaechi’s presidential ambition after a consultative meeting.
However, leaders of the party in the South-South zone have countered the claim, insisting that no such endorsement was made and that the region has not taken an official position on the party’s 2027 presidential ticket.
The zonal leadership emphasized that decisions regarding endorsements would follow due process within the party’s established structures.
