The Service of Song and Vigil/Funeral Mass for the late Mr. Simon Ogbokor Okoji Agumuete was solemnly held at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Ibrede, in Ndokwa East Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Mass was officiated by Rev. Fr. Phillip Obewha, who described the late Mr. Agumuete as a man whose life bore true witness to his love and service to God. Fr. Obewha noted that he had come to know the deceased only a few days before his passing, yet his testimony clearly reflected a committed Christian life.

In his homily, Fr. Obewha reminded the congregation that death marks the end of earthly repentance, urging the living to reflect on their lives and renew their commitment to God. He stressed that salvation remains the responsibility of those still alive, calling on all present to examine their consciences and walk more faithfully with the Lord.

The First and Second Readings were taken from Isaiah 2:6–9 and Romans 14:1–9, respectively, with emphasis on the teaching that “none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself.”
Prayers were offered for the repose of the soul of the departed, as Fr. Obewha commended Mr. Simon Agumuete to the mercy of God, praying that the Almighty and Eternal Father grant him eternal rest, perpetual light, and everlasting peace.

Late Mr. Simon Agumuete was born on September 8, 1954. He was married to Jenma, of Christian Egyptian paternity and Guyanese maternity. Their union was blessed with a daughter, Dora, who sadly predeceased him following a tragic accident.
In a heartfelt tribute, Engr. Vincent Okoji Agumuete described the deceased as a perpetual cheerful giver, noting that even in times of personal need, Simon never hesitated to give to others. He further recalled how the late Mr. Agumuete encouraged him to live a life of honesty, courage, and hard work, adding that his passing has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.

The Service of Song concluded with the reception of Holy Communion and the closing hymn, “Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me,” marking a solemn and prayerful farewell to a man remembered for his faith, generosity, and upright life.
