Concerns have surfaced within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, following objections raised by members of the Warri Urhobo APC Leadership Council regarding preparations for the forthcoming LGA Congress leadership meeting.
In a petition dated February 13, 2026, and addressed to the Delta State Chairman of the APC, Omeni Sobotie, the group expressed reservations about the process leading to the meeting scheduled for February 14, 2026.
The petition, jointly signed by Olorogun Bernard Okumagba (Chairman), Hon. Chief Benson Obire (Vice Chairman), Chief Vincent Okudolor (Secretary), Chief Dr. Westham Adehor, Hon. Mark Ikpuri, Rev. Canon David Otofia, Olorogun Victor Okumagba, Chief Isaac Emifoniye, Chief Ann Gagiyovwi and Chief Peter Agiri, called on the state leadership of the party to review the situation in the interest of unity and inclusiveness.
According to the document, the council stated that it expected broad consultation among stakeholders in determining modalities for the congress and the election of new local government executives. The group expressed concern that the list of invitees to the leadership meeting was not circulated widely among stakeholders prior to invitations being issued.
The petition also referenced the role of the outgoing Warri South LGA APC Chairman, Mr. Mario Owumi, noting that invitations were reportedly communicated via text messages. The council stated that it would have preferred a more consultative approach involving leaders across the various blocs within the local government area.
The group maintained that transparent procedures and balanced representation are essential to fostering internal cohesion within the party. It therefore urged the state chairman to provide guidance to ensure that all relevant stakeholders are adequately represented at the meeting.
While reiterating its commitment to the progress of the party in Warri South, the council emphasized the need for dialogue and equitable participation in both the leadership meeting and the subsequent election of new executive members.
Party officials in the local government area had yet to publicly respond to the concerns at the time of filing this report.
