Abuja — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of four ambassador-designates to strategic diplomatic missions, out of the 68 nominees earlier confirmed by the Senate in December.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, the approved postings cover France, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Turkey.
The President confirmed Ambassador Ayodele Oke as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to France, while Colonel Lateef Are has been approved as ambassador-designate to the United States of America.
Also approved is the posting of Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu, a former Nigerian ambassador to South Korea, as High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom.
In addition, Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, a former governor of Kebbi State, has been confirmed as Nigeria’s ambassador-designate to Turkey, a posting that comes ahead of President Tinubu’s scheduled state visit to Turkey next week.
President Tinubu, in a memo to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, directed the ministry to formally notify the governments of the four countries of the appointments, in line with established diplomatic procedures.
The approvals mark the first phase of ambassadorial postings following the Senate’s confirmation of nominees late last year.
