President Bola Tinubu has approved the composition of Nigeria’s delegation to the newly established US-Nigeria Joint Working Group aimed at strengthening bilateral security cooperation.
The announcement was made on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy. According to the statement, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu has been appointed to head the multi-stakeholder delegation.
The joint working group was conceived during a recent visit to Washington, D.C., by senior Nigerian government officials, where both countries agreed to enhance collaboration on defence, intelligence, and internal security.
The Nigerian team includes Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar; Minister of Defence Mohammed Abubakar; Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; and Minister of Humanitarian Affairs Bernard Doro.
Also named to the delegation are Chief of Defence Staff Olufemi Oluyede; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency Mohammed Mohammed; and Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun.
