Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has expressed doubt over the ability of Rotimi Amaechi and David Mark to secure electoral victories for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2027 general elections.
In a recent interview with journalists, Wike argued that Amaechi lacks the political strength to deliver Rivers State to the ADC, citing previous election outcomes as evidence. He recalled that during the 2015 and 2019 general elections, the All Progressives Congress (APC) struggled to make significant gains in the state despite Amaechi’s prominence within the party.
Wike noted that even when Amaechi served as director-general of the presidential campaign for the late former president, Muhammadu Buhari, the APC failed to achieve decisive victories in Rivers State.
He extended similar skepticism toward David Mark’s influence in Benue State, suggesting that neither politician has the political machinery required to swing their respective states in favor of the ADC.
Wike’s remarks add to the growing political debate ahead of the 2027 elections, as parties and key figures begin positioning for influence across critical states.
