Zenith Bank has confirmed that it suffered a cyberattack that exposed limited customer information, including email addresses and phone numbers.
In a message sent to customers on Tuesday, the bank disclosed that the breach was part of a wider global cyberattack targeting organisations across multiple sectors.
The lender, however, assured customers that the incident affected only limited personal information and did not compromise its banking services or digital platforms.
According to the bank, its incident response protocols and cybersecurity measures were activated immediately after the breach was detected, while investigations into the attack are ongoing.
“As a precaution, we encourage our customers to remain vigilant against phishing emails, text messages, or phone calls, and to never disclose their password, PIN, One-Time Password (OTP), or other security credentials to anyone,” the bank said.
Zenith Bank reiterated its commitment to safeguarding customers’ information and expressed appreciation for their continued trust as it works to determine the full scope of the incident.
The bank also urged customers to be cautious of unsolicited communications requesting sensitive banking details, warning that cybercriminals may attempt to exploit the breach through phishing and other social engineering tactics.
