Hon. Pereotu Oloye, the member representing Burutu II Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, has been honoured with Distinguished Leadership and Legislation Award by Officials Nigeria Magazine.

The award was presented to him in his office in Asaba by a representative of the magazine in recognition of Oloye’s “consistent and robust legislative engagement, impactful leadership and self‑less service” to the people of Burutu II.

Receiving the accolade, Hon Oloye thanked the management of Officials Nigeria for deeming him worthy of the honour.

“I commend the management of Officials Nigeria for bestowing this award in recognition of my service to my constituents as a lawmaker,” he said.

In an exclusive interview after the ceremony, Oloye outlined his achievements in the State Assembly, saying that although legislators are not “approving authorities,” he has prioritized quality representation and ensured that his constituency benefits from state policies, projects and programmes.

“As a representative of Burutu II, I do my best to give my people quality representation. As a lawmaker, I am not an approving authority where I can easily approve projects for my people. It is however gratifying that we have a Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, who ensures an even distribution of projects across all local government areas and constituencies in the state, including my constituency.”

The Lawmaker listed several development projects he has attracted to Burutu II, including donation of a six‑classroom block to Torugbene Primary School; renovation of a health centre and construction of a semi‑detached bungalow staff quarters in Tamigbe; and a new six‑classroom block currently under construction at a primary school in Ojobo.

On human capital development, Oloye who is the Chairman, Assembly Committee on Urban Renewal and Physical Development, said he has provided bursary support to almost 100 students in the constituency, including those in higher institutions, and that efforts are being made to launch an empowerment for petty traders, especially women at the grassroots.

Adding that he operates an open‑door policy and welcomes constructive criticism, Oloye said, “My inspiration as a lawmaker is to take governance to the grassroots. Your people need to feel your impact”.

The Lawmaker also highlighted his engagement with the executive, nothing that the long‑standing request for the Torugbene–Ojobo Road has been captured in the 2026 budget presented by the State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori to the State Legislature.

Oloye appealed to the governor to rehabilitate the dilapidated Tuomo–Torugbene Road, an abandoned NDDC project, stressing that its completion would boost economic activity in the oil‑producing communities of Ojobo and Tuomo.

He praised Governor Oborevwori’s “infrastructural revolution” across Delta State, describing him as a man of integrity who “matches his words with action” and “has not borrowed a dime since coming into office.”

Oloye reaffirmed his commitment to delivering quality representation and fostering development across Burutu II Constituency.
