Warri-born marine entrepreneur and former Chairman of DESOPADEC and Warri North Local Government Area, Hon. Dr Toritseju Godwin Ebosa, has been honoured with the prestigious Royal Order of Iwere (ROI) by His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, the Olu of Warri.
The Royal Order of Iwere is one of the highest honours in Warri Kingdom, reserved for distinguished sons and daughters of the kingdom who have made outstanding contributions in their various fields. The honour ranks only below the revered chieftaincy title in the kingdom’s traditional hierarchy.
Dr Ebosa now joins an elite list of past recipients, including Vanguard Newspaper publisher Sam Amuka, Nigeria’s first pilot Robert Hayes, Oritsedere Owosika, daughter of Nigeria’s first Minister of Finance, Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh, former NFF President and global sports administrator Amaju Pinnick, and billionaire industrialist Julius Rone, among others.
Visibly elated during the ceremony and accompanied by his wife, Dr Ebosa expressed deep gratitude to God Almighty, dedicating the honour to God and service to humanity.
“I thank God for this recognition and I dedicate this honour to Him and to humanity,” he said. “I am deeply grateful to His Majesty, the Olu of Warri, for finding me worthy of this rare honour. I remain committed to loyalty, service, and the continued development of my people.”
The former DESOPADEC boss also appreciated friends, associates, and well-wishers who came out in large numbers to witness what he described as a memorable and historic occasion.
The event was marked by celebration and pride, as many described the honour as a fitting recognition of Dr Ebosa’s years of leadership, service, and contribution to the growth of Warri Kingdom and beyond.
