Warri — The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Comrade Nkem Nwaeke, has commended Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for donating a fully built and furnished secretariat to the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, describing the gesture as a boost to journalism practice in Delta State.
Nwaeke made the commendation during an unscheduled visit to the newly completed secretariat, officially named the High Chief (Dr.) Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo Press Centre, located in Warri.

During the visit, the CPS urged journalists, particularly those covering the Warri axis, to sustain cordial working relationships with both government and private sector stakeholders, stressing that responsible reporting and collaboration remain vital to democratic governance.
Speaking on behalf of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, Nwaeke expressed appreciation to Tantita Security Services for the gesture, attributing it to years of good reportage and mutual respect between the media and the private sector.
“On behalf of my boss, the young, amiable and dynamic Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, I sincerely appreciate Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited for this wonderful gesture,” Nwaeke said.
He noted that members of the Warri Correspondents’ Chapel had operated for years without a purpose-built structure, adding that the new facility has transformed their working environment.
“This beautiful complex has changed the narrative, providing journalists with a functional and dignified space to work, collaborate and file reports. It reflects recognition of the press as a key democratic institution and the cordial relationship between the chapel and the donor,” he added.
Nwaeke described the development as a major boost to journalism practice in the state and advised journalists to continue upholding professionalism while working closely with the Delta State Government led by Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori.
He further commended the synergy between private sector support and public leadership that made the project possible, expressing hope that similar initiatives would be replicated by other organisations.
“Journalists covering Warri and its environs now have more than a workplace; they have a permanent professional home. Responsible reporting and public education remain central to governance and civic trust,” he emphasised.
Conducting the CPS around the facility, the Chairman of the NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel, Comrade Victor Okpomor, thanked Tantita Security Services for its generosity, describing the secretariat as a symbol of professional identity and institutional stability.
Okpomor said the facility would significantly boost journalists’ morale and enhance media practice in the area, noting that it was a long-overdue development.
Flanked by the Chapel Secretary, Comrade Edeki Igafe, and other members, Okpomor also thanked Nwaeke for the visit and praised the cordial relationship between journalists and the Delta State House of Assembly.
He commended the CPS for strengthening media visibility and fostering strong ties between the Assembly and journalists.
“This secretariat is a game-changer for us. We now have a place to hold meetings, workshops and training sessions. Please convey our appreciation to the Speaker, and let him know that we look forward to welcoming him here,” Okpomor said.

Several chapel members, including Comrades Michael Ikeogwu, Akpokona Omafuaire and Matthew Omonigho, also lauded Nwaeke for his professionalism, humility and commitment to strengthening media–legislature relations.
They pledged continued support for the Delta State Government and the Speaker of the House of Assembly.
The visit was attended by the State Vice Chairman of NUJ, Delta State Council, Comrade Felix Ekwu, who accompanied the CPS on a tour of the facility.
The NUJ Warri Correspondents’ Chapel Secretariat is expected to serve as a hub for journalists and media practitioners in the area, promoting professionalism, quality journalism and stronger collaboration between the media and government.
