President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his victory in the August 15 governorship election, describing his re-election as a reflection of the confidence reposed in his leadership by the people of the state.
Tinubu, in a statement personally signed and shared on X, said he had earlier called Adeleke to congratulate him on the electoral victory.
“I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him,” the President said.
The President wished Adeleke success in his second term, urging him to use the renewed mandate to unite the people of Osun State, irrespective of their political affiliations.
“I wish him great success as he prepares to lead the state for the next four years,” Tinubu said.
He charged the governor to focus on promoting growth, stability and socio-economic development across the state while ensuring that all residents are carried along.
“Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election,” he said.
Tinubu also commended the other candidates who contested the election, praising them for what he described as courage and discipline throughout the electoral process.
“I salute the courage and discipline displayed by other contestants in the election. Their participation deepened and enriched our country’s democratic culture,” he said.
According to the President, the outcome of the election reflected the choice of Osun voters and further demonstrated the resilience of Nigeria’s democratic system.
“The outcome of the election reflects the will of the people and is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our land,” he said.
Tinubu also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies for their roles in conducting what he described as a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner.
“I must also commend the Independent National Electoral Commission and the security agencies for conducting a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner,” the President said.
He concluded by expressing optimism that Nigeria’s democratic institutions would continue to grow stronger.
“May our democracy continue to thrive and be strengthened,” Tinubu said.
