The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has congratulated Comrade Azuka Chiemeka on his re-election as Vice President, South South Zone of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, Rt Hon Guwor described Chiemeka’s re-election as a well-deserved recognition of his commitment, professionalism and contributions to sports journalism and sports development in Nigeria.

The Speaker, a sports lover and member of SWAN, said the outcome underscores the confidence members of the Association have in Chiemeka’s leadership.

Guwor noted that Chiemeka has distinguished himself through years of dedicated service to sports journalism, adding that his wealth of experience would continue to be of great value to the association and its members across the zone.

He said “Azuka Chiemeka’s re-election is a testament to his hard work, professionalism and unwavering commitment to the growth of sports journalism.

“It is also a recognition of the confidence his colleagues have in his capacity to provide purposeful leadership.

The Speaker expressed optimism that Chiemeka would use his renewed mandate to strengthen the association, promote the welfare of sports writers and further advance sports journalism in South South.

Guwor also congratulated other SWAN officials elected during the just concluded congress of the Association, and wished them a successful and impactful tenure in office.

Chiemeka is a Deputy General Manager, News and Current Affairs Department of the Delta Broadcasting Service, DBS, Warri, and Head of the Sports Unit. He was returned to office following the SWAN elections.
