ABUJA — Senator Adams Oshiomhole has expressed deep sadness over the death of Chief Dan Osi Orbih, describing the late businessman and politician as a “brother and friend” of more than four decades.
Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North Senatorial District, said Orbih’s death was a deeply personal loss, recalling their long-standing friendship and years of shared political engagements, laughter and reflections.
In a condolence statement, Oshiomhole described the deceased as a distinguished son of the MCK Orbih family of Ogbona Community in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State.
According to him, Orbih was a man of many parts — a respectable politician, accomplished businessman and devout Catholic Christian whose life reflected a commitment to his faith, community and the advancement of his people.
He said Orbih contributed significantly to the development of Afenmailand through his political activities, business investments and extensive relationships.
“Dan was very principled, stood his ground in defence of his beliefs but was ready to extend a hand of fellowship across the political aisle for the benefit of his people,” Oshiomhole said.
Reflecting on their relationship, the former Edo State governor said the death of Orbih had taken on a particularly painful dimension because of their decades-long friendship.
“For me, however, this loss is deeply personal. I have lost a brother and friend of more than four decades,” he said.
Oshiomhole recalled that only recently, he and Orbih had sat with other friends, laughing and reminiscing about the “good old days” and the journey they had travelled together.
“Little did I know that perhaps one of our last meetings was already upon us. That memory has now assumed a significance I could never have imagined,” he said.
The senator said Orbih’s legacy would endure beyond his material possessions, noting that he left behind a good name, cherished relationships and a record of service to his people.
“Dan came, he saw, he gave his best and he has departed,” Oshiomhole said.
He condoled Orbih’s wife, Florence, his children, the MCK Orbih family of Ogbona, friends, associates and political colleagues, as well as the people of Edo State.
He prayed that God would comfort the bereaved family, strengthen all those mourning the deceased and grant Chief Dan Osi Orbih eternal rest.
