The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has paid a heartfelt tribute to his wife, Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye, as she marks her 78th birthday, describing her as his friend, counsellor and lifelong companion.
In a personal birthday message released on Sunday, Adeboye reflected on their 58 years of marriage, expressing gratitude to God for her unwavering support throughout his life and ministry.
“Great has been the journey of walking side by side with you. And so today, on your 78th birthday, is a gift to me, to have the world join me in doing what I have spent 58 years doing: celebrating you,” he wrote.
The revered cleric said his wife had made the burdens of ministry lighter through her steadfast partnership, adding that their shared commitment to God’s work had strengthened both their family and the church.
“With you, the weight of the assignment has always been a lighter cross to carry. Our two have agreed, and so our walking together has been of divine stride, a race continuously illuminated, step after step, decade after decade. My path shines brighter because I walk it with you,” he said.
Adeboye noted that while many people know her as “Mummy G.O.,” he has had the privilege of knowing her as his wife, friend and trusted companion who stood by him through every challenge and every victory.
He praised her compassion, wisdom, quiet sacrifices and unwavering faith in God, saying those qualities had continued to inspire him.
“I have watched you give strength to others even when you were tired yourself. I have seen your quiet sacrifices, your compassion, your wisdom, and your unwavering trust in God. Those are the things that make me thank God for you every day,” he added.
The RCCG leader also credited Pastor Folu Adeboye with making significant contributions to their family and the Christian community, saying her love and devotion had impacted countless homes.
“Our children have been blessed because of your love. The family of God has been blessed because of your devotion. Countless homes have been strengthened because you answered God’s call with all your heart,” he said.
Offering prayers for his wife, Adeboye asked God to continue to uphold her, grant her peace, renewed strength, good health and many more fruitful years in His service.
“May the God whom you have served so faithfully continue to uphold you. May He surround you with His peace, fill your days with fresh joy, strengthen your body, renew your strength, and continue to satisfy you with His goodness,” he prayed.
He concluded the tribute by thanking his wife for standing by him throughout their journey together, saying, “Thank you for walking hand in hand with me. Happy 78th birthday, my love.”
