Kemi Olunloyo Sparks Debate, Questions Official Narrative on Release of Abducted Oyo Schoolchildren

Media personality Kemi Olunloyo has sparked controversy after questioning the official account of the release of the schoolchildren and teachers who were abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

In a series of posts on X, Olunloyo dismissed reports suggesting the victims were rescued, alleging—without providing evidence—that they were simply returned after being taken to northern Nigeria.

“There was no rescue. They simply brought back those kids from the north the same way they took them,” she wrote while criticizing the Nigerian Army.

Olunloyo also alleged, without offering proof, that pressure from the United Nations and an investigation she claimed was linked to U.S. President Donald Trump played a role in securing the victims’ release.

She further claimed that the Presidency instructed the released victims and their families not to grant interviews to bloggers, podcasters or journalists, questioning the reason for the alleged directive.

According to her, the victims were moved to northern Nigeria and kept there before eventually being released, insisting that efforts to present a different account of the incident would not succeed.

However, Olunloyo did not provide any evidence to support her allegations, and Nigerian authorities have not publicly responded to the claims.

Security agencies had earlier announced that the abducted schoolchildren and teachers regained their freedom after spending several weeks in captivity, although officials have not disclosed full details of the circumstances surrounding their release.
