Arsenal have been crowned Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years following Manchester City’s failure to secure victory against Bournemouth on Tuesday night.
Pep Guardiola’s side needed all three points to keep the title race alive heading into the final day of the season. However, Bournemouth frustrated the defending champions, with Junior Kroupi giving the visitors the lead in the 39th minute.
Although Erling Haaland grabbed a stoppage-time equaliser, City were unable to find the winning goal required to close the gap on Arsenal.
The result officially handed Mikel Arteta’s side the Premier League title, ending Arsenal’s long wait for league glory since the famous 2003/2004 “Invincibles” season under Arsène Wenger.
The triumph marks Arsenal’s 14th English top-flight title, placing them behind only Liverpool and Manchester United in the all-time rankings.
After finishing as runners-up in each of the past three seasons, Arteta’s young squad finally completed their title charge with a campaign defined by consistency, attacking football, and defensive solidity.
Arsenal’s final league game against Crystal Palace on Sunday is now expected to be a celebration of their historic achievement.
The North London club could still cap off the season with even greater success as they prepare to face Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League final on May 30, where they will aim to win Europe’s biggest club competition for the first time in their history.
