Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has criticized President Bola Tinubu over what he described as a failure to match words with action following a series of deadly attacks in parts of the country.
In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Atiku referenced the President’s earlier assurance that the attack in Angwan Rukuba would not reoccur, expressing concern that the promise appears unfulfilled. According to him, within 72 hours of that statement, another violent incident in Benue State reportedly claimed over a dozen lives.
The former vice president also raised alarm over developments in Nasarawa State, where he said families have fled their homes on foot amid threats of fresh attacks. He further cited a recent attack in Kaduna State over the weekend, describing the situation as deeply troubling.
Atiku emphasized that the primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property, as well as the welfare of its citizens. He urged the President, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief, to rise decisively to the security challenges facing the country.
“Enough of these hollow rhetoric, Mr. President. It is time to fold your sleeves and get to work,” he stated.
He also extended his condolences to families affected by the attacks, noting that his thoughts and prayers are with those who have lost loved ones.
