The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the postponement of its planned nationwide voter revalidation exercise until after the 2027 general elections.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the commission’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna.
According to the statement, the decision to defer the exercise forms part of the commission’s ongoing review of its electoral processes ahead of the next general elections.
INEC did not immediately provide further details on a new timeline for the exercise but indicated that updates would be communicated in due course.
