Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-rufai has accused President Bola Tinubu of planning to become a “life President” if not voted out in 2027.
El-rufai compared Tinubu Governance style to that of Cameronian leader, Paul Biya who has been in power since 1982.
El-Rufai made the remarks on Saturday evening when he received former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who paid him a solidarity visit following a recent attack on him by “suspected APC-sponsored thugs” during the inauguration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna State.
The Presidency has however responded to El-rufai’s claims, dismissing them as “baseless and absurd”.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga described El-rufai’s comments as “hallucinations” and suggested that he needs professional counseling.
Onanuga emphasized that Tinubu is a Democrat who does not intend to stay in office beyond May 28, 2031 when re-elected in 2027
