The Delta State House of Assembly on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, resumed plenary for the Fourth Session of the 8th Assembly with the adoption of its legislative calendar.

The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, in his welcome address, declared the House’s resolve to deliver stronger laws, robust oversight, and people-centred representation.

He said the session marked a fresh opportunity for the Assembly to consolidate on three years of legislative achievements and respond to the high expectations of citizens across the 29 constituencies.

Rt. Hon. Guwor, who is also Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, urged members to remain steadfast, focused, and dedicated to the discharge of their constitutional duties.

The Speaker promised that his leadership would strengthen partnership with other arms of government and pursue legislative initiatives that would positively impact the lives of Deltans.

He expressed confidence that the unity and cooperation that have defined the 8th Delta Assembly would drive “remarkable successes” in the months ahead as members tackle issues of peace, prosperity, and development in the state.

Commenting on the Thanksgiving Service held ahead of resumption and attended by dignitaries across the country, Rt. Hon. Guwor noted that it was a moment to reflect on God’s faithfulness and renew commitment to effective lawmaking and good governance.

The Speaker singled out the presence of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and his wife, Tobore, as a sign of the strong partnership between the Executive and Legislature under the MORE Agenda of the state government.

He also expressed gratitude to former Governors Chief James Ibori and Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, former Deputy Governor Deacon Kingsley Otuaro, serving Senators Ede Dafinone and Joel Onowakpo Thomas, federal lawmakers, former members of the Delta Assembly, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and captains of industry for honouring the House.

The Speaker thereafter declared the House open for legislative business for the Fourth Session and wished members a “productive, peaceful, and successful” session.
