The Delta State Government has successfully hosted the second edition of its flagship cultural fiesta, “Rhythm of Delta”, aimed at showcasing the state’s rich cultural heritage and promoting tourism.

Speaking at the grand finale held on Wednesday at the Mariam Babangida Leisure Park, Asaba, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Darlington Ijeh, commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his continuous support, which he described as the driving force behind the festival’s success.

According to Ijeh, the festival brand was conceptualized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and approved by the Governor in 2024, with the maiden edition held last year.

He said this year’s celebration kicked off with sensitization tours across the three senatorial districts of the state, culminating in a colourful street parade that saw dance groups move from Summit Junction and Nnebisi Road to the leisure park.

“This was a deliberate strategy to bring the event closer to the people on the street, many of whom may have become too busy to reconnect with their culture,” the Commissioner explained.

The event featured traditional dances, artistic exhibitions, and dramatic performances, including a stage play titled “The Plague”, which urged young people to shun cybercrime and embrace dignity in cultural heritage.

Exhibitions were also mounted by the Society of Nigerian Artists, Delta State Vocational Centre, and student groups.

Describing the festival as “a huge success,” Ijeh expressed optimism that the coming editions would be even bigger.

“We wish to do MORE by next year because the path of the righteous shines brighter and brighter unto the peect day,” he said.
