Former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has reportedly been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, over allegations bordering on certificate forgery.
According to a source within the DSS, the former minister was apprehended on Wednesday before being handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for further investigation.
Although the anti-graft agency is yet to issue an official statement on the development, sources familiar with the matter said Nnaji is being investigated over allegations relating to the authenticity of his academic credentials.
The arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing probe, with investigators expected to determine the veracity of the allegations and whether any criminal offences were committed.
As of the time of filing this report, neither Nnaji nor his representatives had publicly reacted to the arrest, while the DSS and ICPC have also yet to make official comments on the matter.
