Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chief Blessing Sheriff Agbebaku the Aigbodekhe-Ini of Sobe Kingdom has assured the Director General of Edo Diaspora Agency, Dr. (Mrs) Lorreta Ogboro-Okor of the 8th House of Assembly’s collaboration towards protecting Edos in Diaspora.
Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku who made this assurance commended the DG and staff of the agency for the work in the short time of the agency’s existence.
The Speaker stated that while the agency should endeavor to protect Edos in Diaspora, it should also project the positive image of the Edo State to al especially those in Diaspora so they understand that the issue of Security in the State under the Leadership of Governor Monday Okpebholo has improved with an end to cultism related killings.
He called on Edos to visit during the yuletide stressing that Edos in Diaspora have been good Ambassadors of the state, emphasizing that alot of people who left the country did so due to the high rate of unemployment in the country.
Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku Said nightlife is gradually returning to the state, disclosing that the are more efforts to beef up security in the State.
Earlier, the Director General of the Edo Diaspora Agency, Dr. (Mrs) Lorreta Ogboro-Okor said, she and her team were in the Speaker’s office to introduce the agency and it’s workings to the House.
Dr. Ogboro-Okor said the Agency which is new has in the 7 months of her being at the helm of affairs has been able to set up a help line amongst other activities .
She disclosed that the agency has three major objectives which are to project the welfare of Edos in Diaspora, ensure Remittance of Finances and propagate positive news about Edo State to those in Diaspora.
She presented souvenir of the agency to the Speaker, who had on his entourage, the Chief of Staff, Hon ODK Iruobe Ksc, and the Special Adviser on Protocol and Travels, Mr Chiaka Ogaraku.
