Tunji Disu, the Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force, has visited victims of the recent bomb attacks in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, while also assessing security at the locations affected by the explosions.
According to TheCable, the police chief arrived in the city on Tuesday to sympathise with those injured in the blasts and to review security measures at the affected areas.
The Borno State Police Command confirmed that 23 people were killed and 108 others injured following multiple explosions that rocked parts of Maiduguri on Monday evening.
The blasts reportedly occurred around 7:24 p.m. and struck three major locations in the city — a busy main market, the entrance gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and the Post Office flyover.
During his visit, the IGP inspected the attack sites and directed security personnel to intensify surveillance and strengthen measures aimed at preventing further incidents. Authorities say investigations into the attacks are ongoing as security agencies continue efforts to track down those responsible.
