Authorities in Saudi Arabia have announced that Friday, March 20, 2026, will be observed as Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan, after confirming that the crescent moon was not sighted.
The announcement was shared on Wednesday through the official social media platforms of Haramain Sharifain, which provide updates related to the two holy mosques in the kingdom.
According to the statement, the absence of the crescent moon sighting means Ramadan will complete 30 days, with Muslims in Saudi Arabia set to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr on Friday.
“May Allāh allow us to utilise the remaining moments of this blessed month to engage in that which pleases Him. May He accept our siyām, qiyām and a’māl, and may He allow us to witness many more Ramadāns in good health. Āmīn,” the platform wrote in its message to Muslims.
The announcement means worshippers will complete the final fast of Ramadan on Thursday before observing Eid-el-Fitr celebrations the following day.
