The denial comes in response to comments made by US President Donald Trump, who earlier on Monday announced via his Truth Social platform that Washington and Tehran had held “very good and productive conversations” over the previous two days. Writing in capital letters, Trump said the discussions were aimed at achieving “a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East.”
The US president also indicated that, in light of the purported progress, he had ordered a pause on previously threatened military strikes targeting Iran’s energy infrastructure, a move that suggested a possible diplomatic opening.
