The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public warning over the growing circulation of unapproved and potentially counterfeit toothpaste products being falsely associated with the Colgate brand.
In a statement, the agency urged consumers to remain vigilant and avoid purchasing suspicious oral care products, noting that these items may pose health risks due to uncertain ingredients and lack of regulatory approval.
NAFDAC stressed that the fake products do not meet safety and quality standards, and advised the public to verify the authenticity of toothpaste before use by checking for proper labeling and registration details.
The agency also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting public health, adding that efforts were underway to track down and remove the counterfeit products from circulation while bringing those responsible to justice.
