The Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, MFR, mni, received a standing ovation after presenting the Service’s 2025 performance scorecard at the ongoing Ministry of Interior 2026 Sectoral Retreat in Abuja.
The presentation, delivered at the Nigerian Army Conference Centre and Suites, was widely applauded by stakeholders who praised the Controller-General for his comprehensive grasp of the Performance Management System (PMS) and for highlighting the Service’s progress, accountability, and commitment to operational excellence.

The three-day retreat, themed “Accountable Leadership, Measurable Impact: Reviewing Results, Reviewing Commitments,” was declared open by the Honourable Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. In his opening remarks, the Minister outlined the Ministry’s strategic direction and emphasized the need for agencies under its supervision to align their programmes with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Earlier, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Reformatory Institutions, Chinedu Ogah, delivered a goodwill message in which he commended the Nigerian Correctional Service and highlighted ongoing legislative efforts aimed at strengthening the operational capacity of the Service in support of the Controller-General’s leadership.
The presentation by the NCoS boss also drew commendations from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, as well as other stakeholders present at the retreat. In his address, the Controller-General reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to rehabilitation, reintegration, and professional excellence, while outlining initiatives designed to strengthen custodial management and enhance public confidence in the Nigerian Correctional Service.
