The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, CFR, will publicly present the newly appointed Chief Priest (Ohen) of Holy Aruosa on Sunday, February 8, 2026.
This clarification was contained in a press statement issued on February 6, 2026, by the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, Mr. Festus Alenkhe.
According to the statement, members of the media and the general public are advised that the event should strictly be described as a Public Presentation and not a crowning of the Chief Priest.
The NUJ Chairman emphasized that all conventional media practitioners— including reporters, editors, writers, as well as social media commentators— are expected to adhere to this approved description in all reports and publications related to the event.
Mr. Alenkhe urged journalists and content creators to ensure accuracy and proper representation of the ceremony in line with the palace’s position.
